Canadian-born, New York and Hudson based Hair and Makeup Artist Kelley Quan views makeup and grooming with an integrative eye and is known for her minimalist aesthetic and focus on radiant skin and hair. Her trademark is her deconstructionist approach to both makeup and hair. ‘I try to explore my subjects in a way that allows each to see themselves in a deeper way that generates a sense of quiet confidence before they head off to any set’ explains Quan. Kelley’s education in painting and art history, and integrative Reiki practice influence her work in equal measure, allowing her to create both artistic editorial and luminous, naturalistic makeup and hair looks. Her clients include: Vogue, Interview Magazine, Vanity Fair, Glamour, British Marie Claire, Lady Gunn, GQ, Bust, Fantastics, Elle magazine as well as campaigns for retailers: Target, L’Oreal Cosmetics and Haircare, Saks 5th Avenue, SJP Beauty, Adidas, Wrap London, Kate Spade, Nike, Champion, Dooney & Bourke, Botega Veneta, Nordstrom, ELF Cosmetics and Timberland, and Ann Taylor. When it comes to flexing her creative muscle as a makeup artist, Kelley never stands still. “ I think of it as an exercise in subtleties. I love mixing textures and colors in new ways— to use makeup to illuminate the face and make women feel really, really, beautiful.”
